About the TLSAE 4-Hour Course
The Florida First Time Driver Course, also known as the Traffic Law and Substance Abuse Education (TLSAE) Course, is a state-required program for all new drivers applying for a license in Florida. This course is mandated under Florida Statute 322.095 and must be completed before taking the knowledge exam or applying for your learner’s permit.
This course is designed for students 18 years ofage or older who have never held a driver’s license in any U.S. state, U.S. territory, or foreign country. The purpose of TLSAE is to educate new drivers on roadway rules, safe driving practices, the dangers of impaired driving, and the effects of alcohol and drugs on judgment and reaction time.

Course Format
